What do I need to provide to secure a rental?
After you request a contract and we send you one, the signed contract, full rental payment, and deposit are required before any props/costumes are sent out. All costume/prop rentals must be paid for in advance. Payments must be made by date specified in the contract, or the rental contract is void, and costumes/props may not be sent out. Payments can be made via money order or check only. You will receive a confirmation e-mail of payment and shipping details within 3 days of receipt of payment.
What else in involved in the rental process?
Measurements are due no later than three weeks before your shipping date. If Red Curtain Rentals (RCR) does not receive your measurements by the date specified, RCR cannot guarantee that you will receive your needed sizes. RCR will send you the closest size available.
When will my costumes arrive or when do I pick them up?
Costumes/props will be available for pick-up or will arrive before the date specified in the contract. Shipping and return dates will also be specified in the contract. Return date is the day it must be back in our possession. Late fees will also be specified (on a per day basis) and applied if not returned by 5p.m. on the return date. We are flexible with sending a show out early if it is ready to give you more time with the costumes/props at no extra charge.
Can we visit your office to look at the costumes before we decide to rent?
Absolutely. Visits are by appointment only.
How will my costumes be sent?
Costumes will be sent by UPS or USPS, and both to and from shipping charges will be paid by you. All costumes must be insured for full replacement value as specified in the rental contract.
What do I need to know for returning the costumes?
Costumes/props must be returned the same way they were received: on hangers in the same box, with the proper tags, and with the same bags shipped. Costumes/props not returned properly will be charged 10% of rental price. Costumes must be returned/shipped the next business day following your last performance/event unless otherwise noted.
Is a deposit required?
Yes, a deposit is required by all organizations in the form of a check. The deposit amount will be specified in the rental contract. The deposit will be returned upon return of the prop/costumes if no damage has occurred.
How much do the rentals cost? Do you ever provide discounts on rentals?
Rental rates are listed on each show page. Discounts may apply for longer runs. RCR also offers a 10% discount when costumes are picked up in our Plymouth, MA, office and dry cleaned before being returned. School rates may also apply.
Am I allowed to make alterations?
Temporary alterations such as pinning and hand sewing are allowed but your responsibility. RCR will discuss availability of sizes when measurements are received. RCR can make custom sizes, but additional fees apply and must be arranged with an RCR representative. Custom sizes will only be made if time permits before the shipping of your costumes.
Who do we credit in our program?
If possible, please list in your program: Special props/costumes for this show provided by Red Curtain Rentals.
It would be greatly appreciated if a copy of the program could be returned with the costumes/prop.
